Shopping Smarter with an AI Assistant: A Buyer's Checklist
Maker's note: 기준일 2026-10-03. Written by the AZET team (AZET 운영팀) — we build and operate azet.io. Any status statement about AZET below is current as of October 3, 2026.
"Shop" is one of the section names on azet.io, which means we think a lot about how people use AI assistants when they're about to spend money. The short version: an assistant is excellent at helping you figure out what you actually need and at organizing a comparison. It is much less reliable at knowing today's price, today's stock, or which review is genuine. This checklist splits the work accordingly.
Step 1: Describe the need, not the product
Most buying mistakes start with searching for a product before defining the problem. Ask the assistant to interview you instead: "I want a new laptop. Ask me five questions that would change which kind I should buy." The questions — about weight, battery, software, budget, how long you keep devices — often matter more than any spec sheet.
Write the answers down as a short list of requirements. That list is now your filter.
Step 2: Build a fair comparison
Once you have two or three candidates, ask the assistant to build a comparison table against your requirements, not against every spec the manufacturers advertise.
| Requirement | Option A | Option B | Option C |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fits budget | ? | ? | ? |
| Meets must-have #1 | ? | ? | ? |
| Meets must-have #2 | ? | ? | ? |
| Known drawbacks | ? | ? | ? |
Treat every filled cell as a claim to verify. The table's value is its structure: it keeps you comparing the same things across options and stops one flashy feature from dominating the decision.
Step 3: Verify the facts that change
Some facts are stable; others change weekly. An assistant may have outdated information on anything in the second group.
- Stable-ish: general product categories, what a feature does, typical trade-offs.
- Changes often: price, availability, model versions, warranty terms, return policies, shipping times.
Confirm everything in the second group on the seller's or manufacturer's official page right before you buy.
Step 4: Read reviews with a skeptic's eye
An assistant can help you read reviews critically. Ask it to summarize recurring complaints rather than overall sentiment, and to separate complaints about the product from complaints about shipping or a single seller. Be cautious with any answer that reports a rating or a number of reviews — check the live page. And remember that review ecosystems can contain incentivized or fake reviews; patterns of specific, repeated issues are usually more informative than star averages.
Step 5: Run a pre-purchase pause
Before checkout, ask three questions — the assistant can prompt you, but the answers are yours:
- Does this meet every must-have on my list?
- What's the return policy, and have I read it on the seller's page?
- If I wait a week, what do I lose?
The third question catches impulse purchases more often than any comparison chart.
What an assistant shouldn't do on its own
We don't think an assistant should complete purchases, enter payment details, or agree to terms without your explicit go-ahead. Spending money is the kind of action where the person should confirm each step. That principle shapes how we think about the "Shop" area of azet.io, though we're not announcing any shopping feature here.
Where AZET stands
azet is the AI assistant we're building at azet.io. As of October 2026 it's in an early-access waitlist that you join by registering an email, and pricing hasn't been published. The checklist above works with any assistant available today.
FAQ
Can an AI assistant tell me the best price for a product? It may not have current information. Use it to decide what to buy, then confirm the price on official seller pages yourself.
Are AI review summaries trustworthy? They're a useful starting point for spotting recurring issues, but they can't tell you which reviews are genuine. Check the live product page and look for specific, repeated complaints.
Should I let an assistant buy things for me? We'd keep payment and checkout as steps you confirm yourself. Purchases are hard to undo.
What's the most useful shopping question to ask an assistant? "Ask me questions that would change what I should buy." Defining the need usually matters more than comparing specs.
Does azet.io have a shopping feature? "Shop" is a section name on azet.io. As of October 2026 the assistant is in a waitlist, and we haven't published feature details or pricing.
